Once a person when going to Asansol should visit atleast. The primary purpose of the ashram was to spread ‘Brahmo Dharma’. This structure was the first to be constructed by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore as a guest house when he initiated the Brahmo Samaj. See the buildings named Udayan, Konarka, Shyamali, Punashcha, and Udichi. Tagore lived in all of these buildings at one time or other. Uttarayan Complex has beautiful gardens and some of Ramkinkar Baij’s sculptors have been moved there these days. Bichitra Sadan, the Tagore museum, is also located in the Uttarayan Complex. Allow at least one hour to visit Uttarayan Complex. You have not seen Santiniketan, if you have not visited Uttarayan Complex.
