A cow boy namely Mukunda Ghosh of Ramnagar Palace discovered it .In 1729 King Bharamalla having an instruction from heaven built this temple. The present structure was built by Gobardhan Rakshit of Shiakhola. There is a pond adjacent to the building namely Dudhpukur. All over the year pilgrims visit this revered place but at the time of Shravana(July-August) millions of pilgrims visit this place. It’s a famous Shiv temple in West Bengal. Be careful from panda/prists as many people cheated by them, but you can not enter temple without panda. I visited many time at this temple. Train and Road both are connected from Kolkata. Please avoid Shivratri and mid July to mid August as pilgrims from around the state came as this month (as per Bengali calender) dedicated to Lord Shiva.
